Tarleton's teacher evaluations will soon change from in class to online on DuckTrax, according to Dr. Dwayne Snider, professor and associate vice-president for Academic Affairs. Students and faculty alike will be able to view the results online.

Last semester some evaluations were done online. This term, however, all evaluations must be done on DuckTrax. Students can begin evaluating their teachers the week before finals and will not be be able to view their grades until the evaluations are completed or grades become final.

Current websites such as ratemyprofessors.com are similar to the newly installed evaluation system at Tarleton. Students will be able to take into account what their peers think of a professor before choosing a class.

The faculty has mixed emotions about the change.

Psychology professor Jamie Borchardt stated that the students will simply rush through to see their class results and overall believes the change is a bad decision.

Lab assistant Dana Hale also believes that students will simply rush through the evaluation, leaving the professor with ratings that could be inaccurate.

"I'm concerned bad experiences could deter other student's outlook," Hale stated.

The student response has been mixed as well.

"I don't like how other students can see. It's supposed to be anonymous," says junior Jamie Thompson. "As a student I want to know what I'm getting into. As a teacher and a student I can see both sides."

In response to the issue of inaccurate responses, Snider said "students have always been given a chance to express their opinions and are trusted to criticize their instructors accurately."
