Issue date: 11/19/09 Section: Entertainment
The internationally known Moscow Ballet will perform at the H. G. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, on Nov. 19. The ballet will consist of pieces from Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake Part Two and Shaharazad.
Connie Buntrock, executive assistant of the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council said the group's performance was originally going to cost $45,000. This cost was reduced significantly because The Moscow Ballet contacted them in January of this year trying to fill dates left on their calendarwith performances around the area they would be in.
"This one just kind of fell in our laps," Buntrock said.
Since January, Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, Student Programming Association and the Department of Fine Arts, have been working to make this a great night at Tarleton.
"We started months and months ago when they called us," she said. "We all contributed to publicity…we split the fee three ways."
Tickets sold out shortly after opening for general admission.
