Students, alumni and members of different organizations came together flaunting artistic trailers, spreading the Tarleton spirit and reinforcing the traditions at the Homecoming parade on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. The parade started at Tarleton stadium and encirled the campus.
Fifty-one different organizations entered. The different entry types included float, truck-trailer, car and marching unit and mounted unit. The event was judged by three judges who were primarily faculty of the university.
Each year participants decorate their trailer and showcase their talent. Alpha Gamma Rho was given the "Blanchard" award for adherence to the theme and the sweepstakes award for the overall highest total points.
Sigma Alpha and Delta Chi won the "Oscar P" award for the most spirited float and Block and Bridle, Agribusiness club, the Diary Club, and the Pre-Vet Club won the "It Wouldn't be a Parade Without You" award.
One hundred three entries were filed.
"The majority of participants are youth that actively contributes to it. This parade is a big opportunity for our students to show the love they have for the university and the pride they have for Tarleton," said Donna Strohmeyer, director of Student Activities.
