Purple pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and eggs were served to a hungry Tarleton community Thursday at this year's Midnight Breakfast. Hundreds of students lined the entry into the Dining Hall, some arriving at least two hours early, to ensure the best seating for breakfast.

The tradition, which according to the Purple Book dates back to 1983, is held by the Freshman Representative Council of the Student Government Association. Members helped organize, direct and serve the event, much to the appeal of its attendants.
"I had a great time," sophomore Kelley Hutchinson said. "It's the only thing I was able to go to during Homecoming week."
Unfortunately, this year's event followed the tradition that strangely occurs often during Homecoming week, cold weather. However, the low temperatures did not detour many participants and free hot chocolate was passed out to those in line.
"The purple pancakes were amazing. They were worth all the time I spent waiting in the cold," sophomore Kyle Mashburn said.
Once inside, students were given a free breakfast and their choice of beverage. The Dining Hall was decorated with Homecoming spirit, as purple and white balloons floated at almost every table. As students ate, they were able to sit with friends and visit with various organizations. This and other Homecoming events were held in an attempt to raise spirit for Saturday's game.
