Alpha Gama Delta and Delta Phi Xi excelled in this year's Yell Contest, as both organizations won the large and small division, respectively.
During Yell Contest, students perform steps, chants and yells relating to homecoming or university traditions. The winning team of each division receives the honor of beating the drum first, after the Plowboys.

Alpha Gamma Delta performed an 80s themed chant, incorporating the songs What I Like About You and Eye of the Tiger. The organization's president, Courtney Wagley, said the participating sorority members practiced at least a couple of hours per night for two weeks prior to the event.
"It was just an incredible experience," Wagley said. "Whenever they call your name it was a rush of blood to your head."
This was the second win in a row for Alpha Gamma Delta, as the organization won the large division in the previous year's competition as well.
"No one really expected us to win again," Wagley said. "It rarely ever happens that one organization can win Yell Contest two years in a row. It was an amazing experience."
Delta Phi Xi experienced their first win. The two-year-old fraternity competed last year; however, the organization's president, Christopher Farmer, said this year the members took the competition more seriously.
