There were 125 names read at the Silver Taps ceremony.

The Silver Taps Ceremony, an annual ceremony held to honor members of the Tarleton family that have passed away in the past year, was held on Thursday, April 16.

"The Silver Taps Ceremony is put on by the Tarleton ROTC, the Tarleton Alumni Association and Tarleton Alumni Relations," said a member of Tarleton Alumni Relations. "We try to hold it around the same time each year during Founder's Week."

According to a member of Tarleton Alumni Relations there were 125 names read at this year's ceremony. The names include former faculty and staff, students and anyone that has donated to the university.

"Volunteers will hold one candle for each member of the Tarleton family that has passed away in recent year," said a member of Alumni Relations.

According to Alumni relations, volunteers to hold the candles range from students to faculty and staff and sometimes even family members of those that have passed away will hold the candles.

"At the end of the name reading, a procession will lead to the military memorial and Taps will be played and then followed by a 21 gun salute," said a member of Alumni Relations. "At the end of Taps and the 21 gun salute, the flames of the candles will be extinguished."

For more information on the Silver Taps ceremony, contact the Alumni Relations office at (254) 968-9074.
