The Student Government Association had their first Senate Meeting of the semester on Monday, Jan. 26. The group discussed what was planned to happen this semester.

"A lot of resolutions are going to be coming down the line," said Shane Henry, SGA President. "We have lost a lot of time and have a lot to get done."

The Freshman Representative Council (FRC) has started planning Sixth Grade Day Away for this year.

"The theme is superheroes this year and we are going to completely revamp the entire program," said Alycia Pruitt, Co-Director of the FRC.

Cody Knott, Director of University Operations, has plans to improve the campus.

"I will be talking with Mr. Graham about repainting our parking lots," Knott said.

Knott also spoke on trying to improve the sidewalks.

Athletic Director and head basketball coach Lonn Reisman approached SGA on raising the Athletic Fee from $6 to $10 because of facility needs such as new bleachers in the gymnasium, putting in a student section in the stadium and a more appropriately sized mat for the gymnasium. Athletes now also have to use charter buses when travelling to away games, making transportation costs rise.

"This is really important," Henry said. "It'll be a four dollar increase."

For this to pass the entire student body has to vote on the issue after the Senate and House pass a referendum approving the fee increase. The vote will be held on the Tarleton Website Feb. 24-25.
