Opening for Eli Young Band was the Tommy Gallagher Band, who went on stage around 9 p.m.
Vocalist Mike Eli, bassist Jon Jones, drummer Chris Thompson and guitarist James Young came out enthusiastic to play in Stephenville. This could also come from the help of the growing crowd in City Limits and our love for the band.
"The crowd is really great," Jones said. "You can hear everyone singing along."
Jones said that the first time the band played in Stephenville, which was about five to six years ago, there were only about 10 people in the crowd, including his dad. Jones also said this was one of his favorite memories of playing in Stephenville.
The band played many songs from their latest album, "Jet Black & Jealous," and even some oldies that have turned into a 'must-have' at each concert. Jones agrees with fans on "Guinevere" being one of the top hits of the album.
"I really like the way it came out on the album," Jones said.
"That's the Way" was the song Eli Young Band opened up the concert with. Another fan favorite is "Small Town Kid," in which Eli introduces himself and the others. This was the song that ended the concert. A cover of "Come Together" was played by the band as their encore song.
I noticed not only the fans putting their hands up, getting into the song but also the band really getting into "When It Rains."
Many songs were played, including "Bottom Line," "Always the Love Songs," "Jet Black and Jealous, "Oklahoma Girl," "Radio Waves" and "Enough Is Enough." If you're like me though, you were happy with each and every song played.
As many of you may have noticed, Eli Young Band is getting very popular, appearing on CMT and listening to them on every country radio station. What is special about them is they give time to autograph anything for any fan, pose for pictures, shake hands during the concert and even talk with fans afterwards.
