With the end of the semester approaching, it is easy to be short-sighted, but Tarleton Physical Facilities is already looking as far down the road as 2020.

On Thursday, April 24, a student forum will be held to discuss the 2020 Master Plan for the Tarleton campus. Students and faculty are encouraged to attend the forum at 7 p.m. in Room 22D of the Thompson Student Center to provide input into the projected vision of Tarleton facilities in the year 2020.

"We will become whatever we plan for," said Joe Standridge, Associate Vice President of Physical Facilities. "Planning is the key to everything."

Tarleton's current Master Plan extends through 2010 and Standridge hopes the 2020 plan will be completed by December. Developments such as the new dairy center and the nursing building evolved from contributions made during previous master planning.

Standridge hopes attendees will offer up their unique expectations for what Tarleton should look like by 2020.
"Nothing that's thrown out will be ignored," said Standridge.
Suggestions will considered, but there is no guarantee for every idea, said Standridge, because not everything that is planned actually formulates. Ideas must work well in the academic, strategic and curricular plans of the university.
The main goal of any Master Plan is to "continue to create that culture of excellence for our students," said Standridge.

Physical Facilities is currently working to make improvements in the department, including a Web site that should be accessible in the near future. Until the new page is up and running, more information about Physical Facilities and the Master Plan 2020 can be accessed by calling (254) 968-9065.
