Greg Terpenning pitched his sixth complete game of the season and picked up the win as the Texans took the first contest 5-4.
The win in game one improved the Texans record to 19-21 overall and 14-15 in Lone Star Conference Play.
The win gave the Javelina's a three game lead on the Texans in the conference standings.
The win in game one brought the Texans to within striking distance of the Javelinas, putting them only two games back.
A Greg Sillivent ground out in the first scored Heath Herron, putting the Texans ahead early, 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, a Keith Peacock triple scored Tyler Rau from first base.
A single from Jeff Davis brought Bucky Squyers home in the fifth to put Tarleton on top 3-0.
In the eighth, Peacock hit his second triple of the contest, scoring Jason Holmes from second base. After Squyers was walked, Herron hit a sacrifice fly to straight away center and Peacock came home.
The Javelinas were able to finally start making some noise in the ninth, when Terpenning, who had easily gotten through the first eight, began to show signs of fatigue. A mound visit by Coach Felan seemed to clear Terpenning's head and he closed out the game.
TAMUK had hit a grand slam when Owen Weaver hit a base-clearing blast to pull within one, but Tarleton's pitching and defense were too much for the Javelinas to handle.
Tim Jones took the loss for the Javelinas, despite pitching eight complete innings.
In game two the Javelinas took advantage of a Tarleton team that appeard tired and out-of-sync.
Kingsville scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 13-8 victory over the Texans.
The Texans scored two runs in the bottom of the inning on a Charles Desmarias single down the left field line, but the Javelinas answered with two more runs in the top of the second to extend their lead to 5-2.
Tarleton added two more runs in the bottom of the second. Peacock came home to score on a wild pitch and Davis scored on an RBI-double from Sillivent to pull within one, down 5-4.
The Javelinas seemed to have an answer for everything the Texans threw at them as they put up two more runs in the third along with in the top of the fourth.
Tarleton put up three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning. A two-run home run from Herron followed by another RBI-hit from Desmarias made it 8-7, but that would be as close as the Texans would get.
Another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth gave Kingsville a 12-7 lead.
Tarleton added a run in the bottom of the sixth on a Rau single that scored Sillivent, but that would be all they could come with as the Javelinas added a run in the top of the seventh to take a 13-8 win away from the Texans.
Sillivent (1-1) got the start for the Texans and lasted 4.2 before Dallas Rayborn came on in relief. Chuck Brown finished out the game going the last 1.2 for the Texans.
Bobby Gonsoulin started for the Javelinas but was unable to get out of the first inning, recording just one out while giving up two runs.
