The Texans put on a phenomenal display of offensive prowess last Tuesday night as they beat the Dallas Christian Crusaders.
After cruising to an early lead, the Texans managed to go on a 44-0 run to heading into halftime. The defensive effort by the Texans was also amazing as they held the opponent to 19 points and set a new record for fewest points allowed by an opponent. The previous recrod was set when Tarleton held National Christian (12/13/02) and Hillsdale Free Will Baptist (12/15/03) to 23 points.
Dallas Christian was 8-50 from the floor, shooting for an abysmal .160.
"This is the deepest bench I have had since I have been here, and tonight they all played well," said Texan head coach Lonn Reisman. "A lot of times when teams get down like Dallas Christian did tonight, they quit playing, but this team played hard, and I have a lot of respect for the way they fought all night long."
Avery Patterson led the Texans with 20 points while Jeffrey Henfield recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Tarleton was 35-71 (.493) from the field, 16-34 (.471) from behind the arc, and 8-11 (.727) from the free-throw line. The team was just one three-pointer away from setting the team single-game record.
Dallas Christian was led by Christian Lawyer who had ten points. Brandon Dewalt had seven rebounds.
