The Department of Fine Arts hosted "An Evening of Music, Drama and Song," on Tuesday November 20. The Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Theatre, although not packed, because of the holidays I'm sure, had a handful in attended.

The Tarleton State Strings, Directed by Paul Bonneau, played famous pieces from Mozart, Purcell and Holst.

In the second set, special guest musicians preformed with the strings. Marika Kyriakos appeared displaying her vocal talents, Brian Henkelman on the harpsichord, and Cara Pollard on trumpet complimented the strings performance.

The evening featured scenes from The Matchmaker, directed by Lindsay Wright, and The Boys Next Door, directed by Glenn Randall. Although, both very entertaining, each scene gave a little chuckle to the audience that waited to hear the strings perform once more.

The music selection would have been acceptable if the strings were up to par. The delivery of the performance was disappointing. There were several instances of wrong notes and instruments that were out-of-tune. Adding Kyriakos, Henkelman and Pollard was smart. They kept the strings tuned for a successful evening.
