The 2007 men's fall rush season is once again upon us, and the fraternities are gearing up for, what looks to be, another
successful fall rush.
The Interfraternal Council, the organization that oversees all fraternal activities, is composed of representatives from five fraternities on Tarleton's campus, including Alpha Gamma Rho, Delta Chi, Kappa Delta Rho, Lambda Chi Alpha and Sigma Chi.
Any male student wishing to sign-up for rush can do so from now until Monday, Sept.
10, the first day of rush week.
An IFC booth will be located in front of the library from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
"The Interfraternal Council Executive Committee is expecting a very successful Fall rush", says Chris Barberena, President
of IFC.
After experimenting with alternate forms of men's recruitment over the past few years, IFC has returned to the formal rush in which all young men interested in fraternity life will go through a five day rush week.
Check in each night will begin at 6:15 p.m. in room 22D in the Thompson Student Center.
Rush week will be kicked off this year on Monday night with a formal presentation in the Thompson Student Center Ballrooms.
The event will give the recruits a chance to meet each individual fraternity and hear a 15-minute presentation by each one.
Monday's presentations will last from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. with free pizza and drinks provided by IFC. This Tuesday, all
of the fraternities will be cooking out at Heritage Park located on campus from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. This will give the recruits a chance to meet and socialize
with the members of each fraternity. All Tarleton students, female and male alike, are welcome to attend the cookout.
The fraternities' individual parties will be held Wednesday and Thursday, and all recruits are encouraged to attend every
party. Food and drinks will be included.
Maps will be given out for each rush party during check-in. On Friday, Sept. 14, the
fifth day of rush, or Bid Day, recruits
may receive invitations to join certain fraternities at the Oscar P building and, at that time, can choose to accept an invitation.
After receiving the bids, recruits can contact the fraternity they wish to accept an invitation from for further instructions.
