The mother of a Tarleton football player who died last month during practice says she hopes the university community will not view his death as a tragedy.

It is a little embarrassing to admit that I made my first real venture out to the Larry Joe Taylor Music Festival in 2010. Gay and lesbian students at Tarleton State University say they feel alienation, but rarely discrimination in the self-proclaimed "Cowboy Capital of the World."
