Strings ensemble strikes a chord

The Department of Fine Arts hosted "An Evening of Music, Drama and Song," on Tuesday November 20. The Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Theatre, although not packed, because of the holidays I'm sure, had a handful in attended. The Tarleton State Strings, Directed by Paul Bonneau, played famous pieces from Mozart, Purcell and Holst.

Rocking to the beat of his own drum

Herrera can be found playing at the Opry House on Highway 377
Fred Herrera, 23, is a drummer who found his calling during the grunge era of the 90s. A native of Brownwood, Herrera has been a familiar face among the local musicians for the past three years. He played the band with Mexican Sleigh Ride until their recent break up and is currently playing at the Cross Timbers Opry House in Stephenville.

Tool Rocks Austin

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the band Tool, along with TransAm, played at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin. When I first saw the opening band, TransAm, come on stage at 8 p.m. I thought they were a little garage band from somewhere in Texas. It was three guys, all very young, but the minute they started playing, I was blown away.
